However, synthetic media is also primarily responsible for much of the misinformation and disinformation in the public conversation. This will likely impact the public trust (as we've seen from the Edelman Foundation recently). So, how do we responsibly approach this?  \n\nPlease join the Data Science Academy for Misinformation and the Role of AI. Ray Levy, executive director of DSA, will moderate this panel discussion. The panelists will be:\n\nScott Babwah Brennen, Ph.D., head of online expression policy at the Center on Technology Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Kristi Shekun Boyd, a technology ethicist and AI specialist passionate about responsible innovation.This discussion is part of the AI @ NC State Hot Topics Series hosted by DSA at NC State University on Centennial Campus. The series is an opportunity for people curious about AI to network with experts, scholars and practitioners. A small group from industry and academia explores a new topic in AI research, ethics and practice at each forum. Through these conversations, we envision new opportunities to build industry-academia-government partnerships, collaborations and communities.\n\nParking will be available at the Oval West Parking Deck.",
